The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Central Region is pleased to announce that Jordan Friesen has taken on a new role as Associate Director of Workplace Mental Health for the CMHA National office headquartered in Toronto, ON.
In his new role, Jordan will have the opportunity to build relationships with employers and CMHA branches across the country in order to build capacity to support the mental health of employees. He will be responsible for overseeing a suite of workplace mental health services delivered by CMHA throughout the country as well as developing new programs, managing strategic organizational partnerships, and contributing to national initiatives of benefit CMHA branches of all sizes.
When asked about his new role Jordan explains that he is excited for the opportunity to build capacity and leverage the unique knowledge and experience CMHA has gained since its inception in 1918. Jordan explains why he decided to take on this new role: “I’ve always enjoyed seeing the big picture in the work I do. This role allows me to do work that has a much wider impact, while still contributing to the fabric of CMHA, which is an organization that I care very much about.”
CMHA Central Region Chairperson Brent Froese remarks on Jordan’s work at the organization since he took the Executive Director role in September of 2015: “Jordan has done excellent work for our organization over the past year and a half and it is with mixed feelings that we accepted his resignation. His enthusiasm and vision will be missed at CMHA Central but we wish him well as he takes on a new role at the national level.”
The Board of Directors has begun recruiting for a new Executive Director with the help of the consultants at Harris Leadership Strategies. More information on the position can be found here.
Jordan will remain Executive Director until a new candidate is found to fill the position, likely at the end of summer.
